A Not So “Happy” Women’s Day.

It’s women’s day today but believe me when I say this we still have a very very long way to freedom from patriarchy and misogyny. Longer than any of us know or can even imagine. Summing it up in words would be implausible and I don’t even know where to begin with. It all seems so unbelievable till today at times when I look back at things because that’s how terrifying it is. In the past one year, all there is I have seen is EVIL. I have seen abuse, manipulation and harassment justified in the name of “true love”. I have seen victim shaming and victim blaming justified in the name of suicide. I have seen torture and blackmail justified in the name of misery and depression. I have seen people sympathizing with men who abuse, harass and torture innocents. I have seen people questioning the victim and not the abuser. I have seen harassers victimizing themselves infront of not just men, but other women as well. I have seen not just men, but women supporting harassers as well. I have seen people believing a harasser only on his word and I have seen people judging a victim even after all the proofs. I have seen slut shaming and character shaming as if it’s no big deal and has no impact on women. I have seen monsters being referred to as angels and heroes. I have seen how opening up about it only makes it worse for women. I have seen people abandoning victims and being neutral at times like this in the name of “I’m not a part of this mess” or “I don’t have anything to do with this”. I have seen people expecting victims to be okay with everything because it is what it is. I have seen psychopaths, narcissists, sociopaths, monsters getting away with everything they do in the name of suicide. I have seen people distancing themselves from victims at times like these while preaching about feminism. I have seen hate for victims and love for harassers. Well to this list, there is no end. And this sadly, is just the beginning. Yes, it is. The amount of strength women have is un-fucking-believable. Unfortunately not today but maybe one day in the future, we’ll have a “happy” women’s day. Maybe. Just maybe.
